Description
I have the good fortune to have been selected to develop and deliver a course at UBC Okanagan. What is unique about the course is that my alternate students will be giving a presentation on the final day to candidly discuss what has worked and what has not worked for them (and why) within the education system. They will be presenting and leading a discussion. The students have also been integral in the development of the course topics, so it is not only a course about them, but also by them.
The course will focus on having a better understanding of at-risk youth, and techniques that have led to successes both academically, and socially. Although most of my background is in alternate programs, I will also draw on my experience in dealing with at-risk youth within mainstream schools.
