June 23-25

Well we did it…..the last week of school!!

I would like to say a big “Thank you” to everyone for participating each week in whatever capacity you were able to.  I know that these past few months have not been easy for everyone and I know that you all did the best you could.  Learning from home is challenging, especially when you have adults that still had to work.  Thank you as well to the adults who supported your children with home learning.  You were flexible and understanding during this time of change and adjustment and it was very much appreciated.  I am looking forward to September where I am hopeful that we can return to some sense of normalcy.

Movie Day

Here in class we have been reading the novel “Tuck Everlasting”.  We will finish it up on Tuesday and as part of end of the year celebration we will watch it in class.  If you would like to watch the same movie at home and have Disney Plus, you can find this movie!

Students here will be completing an activity sheet about movies they have seen.  Click on the “Movie Day Menu” activity under “Files”.  Read the questions and then write your answers on a separate piece of paper.  Once you have finished, colour in the box!

Using a separate piece of paper, answer the math questions on the second page.

Virtual Field Trips

Unfortunately we never got to go on a field trip this year!  Since we can’t do a real field trip, check out the “Virtual Field Trip” link under “Links”.  Click on the coloured text to explore an amazing selection of virtual field trips.

1. In class this week we are building our own personal wooden desk caddies. Watch the video below "HOW TO BUILD A WOODEN DESK CADDY" to learn how to build one of these at home if you have the supplies.

2. Check out the photos on the right side of the website for examples and inspiration of alternate types and styles of desk caddies that you might wish to build on your own instead of the wooden variety.

I have left up all of the Robot Activities in case you haven’t had a chance to complete all of them.

If you would like to do any additional work, continue exploring the assigned activities on the platforms provided (Epic, IXL, Khan Academy, Spelling City, Raz Kids).

Have a fantastic summer everyone! I miss you all and can’t wait to see you again in September!!  This time as grade 6’s! WOW!
